Visit Quanzhou (goquanzhou.com) is an independent English-language travel guide for international visitors to Quanzhou, Fujian — the UNESCO-listed Maritime Silk Road city historically known as Zayton. We write for first-time travelers who need practical answers: how to arrive from Xiamen, which heritage sites to prioritize, where to eat Minnan food, and how to walk the old city without rushing.

This is not a booking agency, tour operator, hotel affiliate mill, or government tourism bureau. We do not sell tickets. Recommendations are written for readers first. When advertising appears, it does not decide which temples, dishes, or neighborhoods we cover.

Who writes this

The site is edited under the pen name Oscar (contact: scoscar@gmail.com), with a small editorial workflow for fact-checking hours, transport notes, and food descriptions. Guides are drafted in English for visitors who may not read Chinese signage. Pages show a last-updated date and a public correction email so readers can judge freshness and send fixes.

How we research

Core pages are based on on-the-ground visits in Quanzhou and nearby districts (Fengze, Licheng, Hui’an, Jinjiang, Anxi, Yongchun), plus official UNESCO and museum materials, municipal transport information, and traveler reports we can verify. We do not copy Chinese listicles into English. When a shop, ticket price, or bus number changes, we update the page after we can confirm it — or we say so if we cannot.

Typical field notes include walking time between Kaiyuan Temple and West Street, whether a site is pram-friendly, whether English appears on tickets, and which meals actually fit a two-day itinerary. Food pages describe what you order, when locals eat it, and what first-timers often dislike — not a generic “must try” list.

What we publish — and what we do not

Update policy
